On March 29, 2025, one hundred and forty women religious from various communities and members of CORL (Conference of Religious Leadership) gathered together for an exciting afternoon. Eleven Sisters of Charity were in attendance at Magnificat High School to hear the keynote speaker: Sister Nancy Schreck, OSF.
A Sister of St. Francis of Dubuque, Iowa, Sr. Nancy is currently the Program Director of Excel Inc., a community service organization located in Okolona, Mississippi. She spoke on the topic, “Our Congregation and Beyond: Exploring A Larger (And Shared) Sense of Mission.” As CORL stated, “We explored our shared commitment to the Gospel and the graced possibilities of ‘being in this together’ at this time in our congregational histories” (CORL).
Before COVID, this group of women had gathered one a year to explore various topics pertinent to religious life, social justice, and education. All felt so blessed for the opportunity to be in the same place again, and for the opportunity to hear an incredible inspirational talk and sharing. The day was like a homecoming, as Sisters from various communities reconnected with one other. The unexpected appearance of the bishop just added to the day!
