The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine have made the difficult decision to close the Hermitage permanently. The following is a message from the Sisters’ leadership:
We are grateful for the interest you have shown in the Hermitage retreat space throughout the years. We are profoundly honored that you have entrusted a part of your spiritual journey to us, and to this special place. As you may be aware, the Hermitage has been closed for the past season due to several complicated maintenance issues. The safety and comfort of our retreatants has always been our utmost priority.
After a lengthy assessment of the property and its safety concerns, the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine have made the difficult decision to close the Hermitage permanently. This will be effective beginning with the 2025 season.
We are so very grateful for the time that you have spent with us, and we hope that you can look back upon your Hermitage retreats with fondness and grace.
Should you need an alternate place to make a spiritual retreat, the Sisters of Charity recommend Centering Space, an interfaith ministry founded by the Sisters in Lakewood, OH. For more information on this ministry, please visit their website at centeringspace.org.
If you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact our administrative office. Thank you for your understanding.
