Sisters Kathy Andrews and Jane Lab joined other members of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), Region VI, for their spring meeting on April 30 – May 1st.

LCWR is an association of the leaders of Catholic women religious congregations in the United States. The conference has nearly 1270 members who represent approximately 66% of the 35,000 women religious in the country. Founded in 1956, LCWR assists its members to collaboratively carry out their leadership service to further the mission of the Gospel in today’s world. Their scope is broad, and includes advocating for systemic change, exploring church and societal concerns, and helping congregations use their corporate voices in solidarity with victims of oppression. LCWR consist of 15 regional groups which meet on a regular basis to discuss topics relevant to each area.

Sisters Kathy and Jane enjoyed a lovely drive to the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph, Ohio for the Region VI gathering. The meeting included discussions on collaboration, global concerns, justice issues, and table discussions regarding topics such as, “Leadership of Religious Life in a Time Such as This,” “Elected Leader Responsibilities – Canonical vs. Operations,” and “What is the toughest thing you’re dealing with right now?” The meeting also provided updates regarding the larger LCWR organization. There was even a blessing on the Sisters completing their Region VI membership.

Sr. Kathy and Sr Jane’s drive home was a bit challenging; about two hours in, they drove into heavy rain. Luckily, things cleared up for the last part of their drive!
